Vauxhall was founded in 1857 and today the Luton-based company is one of the car brands under the umbrella of the US automotive group General Motors, to which Vauxhall has belonged since 1925.
General Motors significantly altered the strategy of the formerly independent car brand Vauxhall already in the mid-70s. Vauxhall no longer develops its own models but essentially takes the Opel model portfolio and markets them under the brand and logo of Vauxhall.
As such, vehicles with the Vauxhall brand are now sold only in Great Britain and Northern Ireland and can be found only as imports in continental European roads.
